Olga Shangina started in a permanent position as Senior Executive Officer in the Economy group on 1st November.

Nicolas Øyane has been employed in a one-year substitute position (20 %) as Associate Professor in the General Practice group.

Kathy Ainul Møen has been employed in a 20 % position as Adjunct Associate Professor in the General Practice group for two years.

Jørgen Breivold will work as a Researcher (20 %) in the General Practice group for the next year.

 Berit Angelskår started in a permanent position as Senior Adviser on 1st October. She will facilitate collaboration across the health cluster.

Kjersti Sletten Bakken has started in a 3-year postdoctoral position. She will work under supervision of Tor A. Strand on the project “Vitamin B12 Supplementation During Pregnancy and Cognitive Development”.

Mathias Barra is now employed in a one-year position as researcher on the BCEPS project “Inclusive Evaluation of Public Health Interventions”.

Natalie Angelica Sagstad started in her new position as Senior Executive Officer in the study administration on 17th October.

Akash Kapali started as a PhD candidate on 12th October with Anne Kjersti Daltveit as supervisor. He will work on the project “DRONE – Drug RepurpOsing for NEurological diseases”.

September 2020

Tormod Rebnord started a PhD project on 1st September with Anne Kjersti Daltveit as supervisor. He is a former research track student and will work on the project “HIV infected women giving birth in Northern Tanzania: a registry-based study”.

Ellisif Nygaard started as a PhD candidate on 1st September. She will work under supervision of Øystein Ariansen Haaland on the project “Genetic association methods for interactions between genetic, epigenetic and environmental factors in family-based biobank data”.

Sindre August Horn has started as a PhD candidate at BCEPS on 1st September. He will work on the project “Fair Distribution of Health”.

Ingvild Strømsnes Maden started in her new job as Head of Administration on 7th September.

Julia Axiina Tuominen started as a PhD candidate on 14th September with Jannicke Igland as supervisor. She will work on the project “DRONE – Drug RepurpOsing for NEurological diseases”.

Randi Nordås will have a 50 % position as senior executive officer in the Economy group for the next six months.

Torill Hystad has been employed in a 10 % position as Assistant Professor in the Physiotherapy research group for a 2-year period.

Erik Zakariassen has been employed in a 20 % position as Adjunct professor for a five-year period.

Knut Erik Emberland started in a temporary 50 % position as researcher on 1st August. He will work on the project “COVID-19 outbreak in Norway – Epidemiology, health care utilization and primary care management (CONOPRI)”, which is led by Guri Rørtveit.

Tine Nordgreen has been employed in a 20 % position as adjunct associate professor in the SAMLET group for a 2-year period from 1st May.

Manjeswori Ulak Chandyo started as a PhD candidate with Tor A. Strand as supervisor. The position is linked to the CISMAC study ”Supplementation of vitamin B12 in pregnancy and postpartum on growth and neurodevelopment in early childhood: A Randomized, Placebo Controlled Trial”. She will work for a considerable part of the time in Nepal.

Jannicke Igland started in her new 50 % position as associate professor at EPISTAT on 1st May. She will continue to work 50 % as senior engineer.

Elisabeth Hove started in a permanent position as senior executive officer in the Economy group on 4th May.

Alemayehu Hailu started as postdoctoral fellow at BCEPS on 14th May with Ole Frithjof Norheim as supervisor.

Yeneabeba Tilahun Sima has started in a 3-year PhD position, funded by the European Research Council as part of the project A woman’s reproductive experience: Long-term implications for chronic diseases and death” (HealthierWomen) with main mentor Rolv Skjærven.

Prativa Basnet has started in a 3-year PhD position, funded by the European Research Council as part of the project A woman’s reproductive experience: Long-term implications for chronic diseases and death” (HealthierWomen) with main mentor Rolv Skjærven.

Jasmin Haj-Younes started in a temporary position as researcher on 1st March. She will work on the project “Changing health along the Syrian refugees trajectories to Norway. Somatic and mental health relationships and implication for treatment”, which is funded by the Research Council of Norway.

Ane Erdal started as researcher at the Centre for Elderly and Nursing Home Medicine (SEFAS) on 10th February.

Melf-Jakob Kühl started in a temporary position as researcher. He will work on the projects TREAT (NFR) and BabyGel (EU).

This month we are happy to announce the following new additions to IGS:

Guri Rørtveit will continue as Head of Department for a new 4-year period.

Ingvild Fossgard Sandøy started in a new position as Professor in Global Health on 1st January.

Mahima Venkateswaran started in a postdoctoral position at CISMAC (Centre for Intervention Sciences in Maternal and Child Health) on 1st January. Her project will focus on digital health interventions in low- and middle-income countries and she will work in collaboration with the eRegistries team at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health under supervision of Frederik Frøen.

Sharline Riiser started as a PhD candidate on 1st January with Sabine Ruths as supervisor. Her project is funded by Allmennmedisinsk forskningsfond.

Siv Johnsen Eggereide started in a permanent position as Financial Adviser on 5th January.

Maria Sollohub has started as Research Coordinator at BCEPS (Bergen Center for Ethics and Priority Setting).

Theogene Habumugisha has started in a four-year position as PhD research fellow. He will work under supervision of Ingunn Marie Engebretsen on the project “Nutrition policy and food systems recommendations anchored in the Sustainable Development Goals and Responsible Research and Innovation frameworks: Perspectives from nutrition, biology and ethics”.

Julia Romanowska will have a permanent position as Senior Engineer at BIOS from 15th January.

Nina-Margrethe Theodorsen started as a PhD research fellow on 13th January. She will work under supervision of Inger Haukenes on the project “Prevention and treatment of Diastasis Rectus Abdominis during pregnancy and the postpartum period”.
