From Guri – April 2019

The turnout for the GDPR seminar arranged at IGS this month indicates that many feel that the new legislation is challenging. The presentations from IGS, UIB, FHI and NSD were informative; however, routines are not fully established. The Data Protection Ombud (Personvernombudet, PVO) at UiB informed that a new research project registration system (RETTE) will be helpful, and hopefully implemented in the fall 2019.

The activity has been high on the social side, too. Thanks to the Party Committee for arranging Fanny’s Corner again last week. Many people attended, and we look forward to the next event!

IGS was also highly visible in Bergen City Marathon with two teams: Global Flash and Global Pleasure, with name-corresponding speed goals… Regular training sessions have been arranged each Friday and the end result was a total success for both teams. Thanks particularly to Linn R. Knudsen, who has taken care of practicalities as well as ensuring a good team spirit! After the run we decided that this was so much fun that we want to repeat it next year. Therefore, Friday training sessions will continue, starting 12 o’clock from Overlege Danielssens Hus running into Isdalen. The campus bus leaves perfectly timed from Kalfarveien at 11.50. You may never have run before, or you may be a high speed runner – everybody is welcome!
