Seminar on academic writing for PhD students at CIH and IGS – 16 Sept.

Seminar on academic writing for PhD students at CIH and IGS 16 Sept.

Wednesday the 16th of September the Research School in Public Health and Primary Health Care (Samfunnsmedisin) and CIH-CISMAC Research School will have a joint research school meeting on academic writing. The seminar will be held by Associate Professor Ana Lorena Ruano at IGS. Ana Lorena has held several courses in academic writing and has received very good feedback from students.

The seminar will be from 10am – 3pm at Hotel Terminus and will include lunch. The seminar will be in English.

At the seminar you will have the opportunity to work on your own draft in smaller groups. Everyone who attend the course must therefore have a draft they are working on, but you can be at any stage in the writing process (it does not have to be a complete draft).

In the first part of the course Ana Lorena will go through all the basic components of a research paper; what kind of information should be presented in each section, and what language, grammatical and syntax rules apply for each section. In the second part, the outline of the paper will be discussed and Ana Lorena will guide us through the confusing process of writing, re-writing and revising our manuscript. Please see the attachment for a more detailed description of the course.

Max 20 students can participate. We therefore ask you to register for the seminar via the following link before September 9:
